Work and Learn

Working for The Martlets

We are friendly and professional in all of our departments and vacancies are highly sought after. The working culture is informal but highly professional and based on mutual trust and respect. The organisation is committed to equal opportunity policies and to the personal and professional development of all its staff.

The Education Department

As well as specialist palliative care training, we provide a range of other training for paid staff and volunteers such as statutory training in health and safety, fire and manual handling, and first aid. We also offer computer skills workshops to staff and volunteers working with computers in their capacity for the hospice, and appraisal and other human resource training for staff.

Although the training costs the hospice money to provide it is free for staff and volunteers to attend upon their managers’ agreement. This is because the hospice believes that a well trained workforce will provide a high quality of service and performance.
