Martlets Mothers Day Skydive

Our Martlets Mothers Day Skydive on Sunday 14th March is now full.

You can jump for the Hospice at any time of the year whether you're part of a group or it's just you.

It’s a 12,000ft tandem skydive - taking place at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent. You’ll need to raise £395 which includes the cost of the jump and a donation of £175 to the Hospice. We’ll give you your own Martlets Skydiving sponsorship forms so you’ll have lots of time to collect money from friends and family.

Previous skydivers tell us it's the experience of a lifetime, the ultimate in thrill seeking.

contact Clem in the Fundraising Office for an information pack and registration form.

What does it feel like to skydive?

"Wow what an experience, until we took off I was very excited but being the first to jump (of 3) I was sitting near the door and as the ground disappeared so did the excitement, I just closed my eyes and waited to do the jump. I have to confess that the waiting was worth waiting for, the experience of ‘flying’ was so calming and watching the picturesque view of Kent was lovely. The only bit I didn’t like was that the harness felt like it was cutting into the top of my legs. The landing was perfect (so my instructor said) and all too soon it was over." Doris O'Hare

"The next thing, before you know it you are in freefall for about 5,000ft or 45 seconds. All the work is done for you by the professional and then they deploy the parachute.

Suddenly it all goes very quiet, serene and SLOW. You are sitting in your harness with this wonderful view of the world .You can chat and my instructor pointed out the sights. I could see as far as Eastbourne and Canvey Island etc. If you want you can do a bit of steering, or not whatever you prefer.

All too soon you are nearing the ground, feet up so Clem can do a lovely soft landing, a really great feeling." Wendy Leigh
